Learners who enroll in this course will acquire a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of various aspects of media production, including video production, graphics, photography, animation, and contemporary multimedia concepts. They will also develop practical skills in these fields. The course will provide an overview of the Media Industry and explore employment opportunities within the field. Additionally, students will be required to enhance their English and Maths skills through courses such as Functional Skills and GCSEs.
Suitability: This course is suitable for individuals who have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSEs with a grade 3 (grade D) or above, preferably including English and Maths, or possess a relevant Level 1 qualification.
Course Overview: The Level 2 Media course is designed to introduce and inspire students to consider a future in the creative and interactive media industry, whether in an educational setting or in the professional field. It is particularly suitable for those who have not studied Media in High School but have an interest in the subject. The course spans one year and consists of 8 units. Upon completion, students can progress onto various paths, such as Level 3 courses (A-Level/BTEC/UAL), apprenticeships, or media-related employment. The Diploma awarded upon completion is equivalent to 4 GCSEs.
Course Delivery Details:
- Days/Time: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
- The course will be delivered through a combination of demonstrations, whole group teaching, discussions, practical workshops, and various classroom activities involving group and pair work.
Continuing Studies: Achieving a Merit/Distinction grade in the Level 2 Diploma, along with L2 English or Maths, can pave the way for further studies, such as the UAL Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology or other Level 3 provisions.
